Singapore is far from backward, but like so many other countries, including my own ( USA ), the government kowtows to religious assholes who insist that the country officially endorse their hateful ideologies. The world would be a better place if any government official who invokes any 'god' were immediately removed from office.

I concur with you capitan!
If we would tax ALL religious groups/orders in the world and demand accountability and legitimacy of their religion then they would be less inclined to prey upon the general public and keep their evil noses out of everybody's business.

They are backward compared with Canada regards Gay Rights.
Of course in most Asian countries there cultures are quite different in their thinking process regards Gay Rights so therefore we all have to be patient in most Western Countries say maybe few hundred yrs before they are more accepting of Gay Rights.
