Mission: Impossible III

Director: J J Abrams

Starring: Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne, Maggie Q

Screening: 2006-05-02

So what if Tom Cruise is really a closet case? So what if his marriage
to Katie Holmes is a sham? Some of us will never get over our romance
with Tom, no matter how many times that Scientology nutcase leaps
on Oprah's couch. Just two words —"Top Gun" —
will send us swooning back to the days when we were mere schoolboys,
discovering breathless male beauty for the first time.

Tom the Bomb returns to his role as a special agent in Mission:
Impossible III
. This time, he is asked to save his ex-trainee
agent (Keri Russell of Felicity fame) from the villainous
Philip Seymour Hoffman who plans to destroy the world. (Don't they
all?) But with the help of his assistants, the glamorous Maggie
Q and intense pretty boy Jonathan Rhys Meyers, he manages to track
down Philip and foil his evil plans. However, Philip has more tricks
up his sleeves than Tom realizes...

Directed by J J Abrams, the creator of hit TV shows Felicity,
Lost and Alias, M: I: 3 is the crackerjack
actioner that the trailer and hype promise it to be. The film is
more than 2 hours long, but it never drags because J J keeps it
packed to the gills with thrills and spills, dutifully delivering
the big bang climax in the final reel.

Tom looks spectacularly hot for a man over 40, while Philip's terrific
turn as the villain is the film's real coup. There are enough daring
leaps off tall buildings, impressive fireworks, car chases and helicopter
pursuits to keep you dizzy with excitement. Buy a ticket now and
knock yourself out.
