The Straits Games in Kuala Lumpur, Oct 10-12

The registration period for the 7th annual Straits Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from October 10-12 has been extended.

Ivan Yap, Chair of The Straits Games 2008
Held annually since 2002, The Straits Games was first organised by Malaysia's Leadership Program for Gays (LPG) and Singapore's MenAfterWork (MAW) to "foster friendship and promote a healthy lifestyle in our communities."

Organiser Ivan Yap told Fridae that over 175 men from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Philippines have registered to compete in its badminton, bowling, volleyball, squash and tennis competitions to be held in different locations in the Malaysian capital. The programme will also include a welcome reception, ice-breaking activities, gala dinner and party held in conjunction with Prince World KL.

It is the fourth time the event is being held in KL since its inception. TSG was held in Singapore in 2004, and Phuket in 2006 and 2007.

Although there has not been any female participation to date, organisers say they are keen to hear from women and women's groups should they be interested to participate next year.

Interested participants who wish to participate in the event or attend the Gala Dinner can email tsg2008kl@gmail.com to enquire.

Thanks guys for wishes. The registration for participants has been officially closed and we are glad that we have most of the targetted countries coming in this year despite a few other important occassions in their very own home-country.

We have in hand participants from : Singapore | Hong Kong | Taiwan | Thailand | Philippines and the host country Malaysia.

oh yes! it was an experience i and hopefully the rest of team pilipinas (philippines) will never forget. this is the first time the philippines was represented as a country participant in tsg. already, i am looking forward to next year's.

in the meantime, let me take this opportunity to invite everyone in asia pacific to come celebrate pride with us here in manila on december 6.

this year is the 60th anniversary of the universal declaration of human rights, the 14th anniversary of the first pride march in the philippines and in asia, and the 10th anniversary of task force pride philippines--the organizer of this year's manila pride season and pride march.
