Bangkok Dangerous

Director: Danny Pang, Oxide Pang

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Shahkrit Yamnarm, Charlie Yeung, Panward Hemmanee, Nirattisai Kaljaruek, Dom Hetrakul

Release: 2008-09-09

Bangkok Dangerous is yet another good Asian film-turned-bad Hollywood remake, though it's surprising considering the remake is directed by the original directors, brothers Danny and Oxide Pang, who also helmed The Eye.

Nicolas Cage plays an ageing international hitman who wants to get out of the assassination game. He jets off to Bangkok to finish off four contracts, which he hopes would be his last. But he's made too many enemies who won't let him off that easily...

With an all-too-familiar plot, poorly-developed characters and dizzyingly erratic action sequences, Bangkok Dangerous is just dangerously bad. The only watchable thing in it is Hong Kong actress Charlie Yeung who plays a cute deaf-mute Nicolas falls for.
