cruise sues gay porn star

Tom Cruise has filed a US$100 million defamation lawsuit against Chad Slater, a gay porn star who claimed that the two had an affair.

Tom Cruise has filed a US$100 million defamation lawsuit on Wednesday against Chad Slater, a gay porn star, who allegedly claimed in tabloid reports that he had an affair with the actor that led to the breakup of his marriage to Nicole Kidman, reports E! Online.

Chad Slater aka Kyle Bradford
According to the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Slater claims that he "has concocted and spread the completely false story that he had a continuing homosexual affair with Tom Cruise and that this affair was discovered by Mr. Cruise's wife, leading to their divorce."

Slater who goes by the name Kyle Bradford allegedly told Actustar magazine that he had an ongoing affair with Cruise, and that Kidman walked in on them during a "romantic encounter."

The story originally appeared in French magazine Actustar, and was later translated and published in the Spanish-language magazine TVyNovelas.

However, Cruise said that he "had no relationship of any kind with Kyle Bradford and does not even know him."

"It is absolutely 100 percent false. [Cruise] is a great respecter of homosexual rights, but he's not gay, and he's ready to prove this in court. Tom is tired of it and it hurts his children. It's something that will be there forever. And damn it, he's going to stop it." Cruise's attorney, Bert Fields, told E! Online.

Slater who is also known as an "erotic wrestler" allegedly told Actustar that he received a phone call while in Paris "from a Tom Finigham, who proposed to have a private encounter, specifically in a ring." He also claimed in the article that it was actually Cruise, and that they had an ongoing affair.

Slater has denied the allegations and has issued a statement on his website saying, "Regarding the news everyone has been reading...I have never been to France, I have never spoken with Actustar Magazine, and have never said any of the statements allegedly said by me. The things being reported internationally are totally untrue and very hurtful to all parties."

Fields said that Cruise is now prepared to target any other publications-in the US or otherwise--that reprint the tale. "He's going to sue anybody who repeats this story, even as a rumor."

Over the years, the couple's bedroom habits have been a matter of intense speculation for the tabloids. The couple also successfully sued the Star supermarket tabloid in 1999, after it published a story claiming that Cruise and Kidman needed a sex coach for their steamy scenes in Stanley Kubrick's film, Eyes Wide Shut.

The couple separated in December last year, three days before their 10th anniversary, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has two adopted children, Isabella Jane, 8, and Connor Anthony, 6. Shortly afterwards Kidman suffered a miscarriage and her lawyers later confirmed the baby had been conceived with Cruise.
