gay games participants advised to pay fees directly to organisers

Participants of the Sydney 2002 Gay Games are advised to not to register or pay any fees to individuals claiming to represent the organisers.

The Sydney 2002 Gay Games Committee has advised all participants to register and pay all fees directly to the organisation. This is in light of an unofficial Indonesian organiser, Hans, who has been requesting people to register for the gay games through him and pay him a fee as he has received sponsorship.

While Gay Games organisers told Fridae that they believe he is genuinely trying to organise a team to represent Indonesia, they stress that the only way to register is through sydney2002.org.au, the official website.

The organisers have also plainly stated that no one should pay any money to a person who claims to be collecting registration money on behalf of Sydney 2002 Gay Games.

Participants who register before 31 October 2001 will get a US$30 discount on fees and are more likely to be guaranteed a place in their sport or event. Registration will continue from 1 November 2001 to 31 July 2002, after which a US$50 late registration fee will be charged.
