Tokyo opened registration on 28 October for free online training on sexual orientation and gender identity for workplace staff. The course is aimed at employees of businesses and other organisations based in Tokyo or operating there.
The metropolitan government says the session will use LGBTQ+ issues to explore diversity. Mika Yakushi, representative director of the nonprofit ReBit, is the lecturer. The programme includes a life story, LGBTQ+ workplace issues and actions participants can take.
It’s a prerecorded video of about an hour, delivered through an unlisted YouTube link. Viewing runs from 9am on 4 November until 11.59pm on 17 December, Japan time, so participants can watch during that period rather than attend a single live session.
Advance registration is required. The official flyer asks for applications by office or shop, and the form requests an organisation and contact person. An automatic confirmation email doesn’t guarantee acceptance; viewing instructions follow separately.
Applications close at 5pm on 17 December, several hours before the viewing period ends. The Tokyo announcement links to the registration page and flyer.
