A 62-year-old Japanese man burnt himself to death after shooting his Thai wife and her alleged lesbian lover in northern Thailand.

A elderly Japanese man killed himself after wounding his Thai wife and shooting her alleged lesbian lover in a jealous rage in northern Thailand on Wednesday, according to the Bangkok Post.

Thai Police said 62-year-old Kazuo Uno shot his 32-year-old wife Jitra and her 33-year-old lover, Samruay Thechaear at Samruay's house in a village in Chiang Mai Province, some 700 kilometers north of Bangkok. His wife was severely injured with a gunshot wound to the head while Samruay was killed instantly.

He then went home, poured gasoline on himself before setting his house which was located in the same village ablaze.

Witnesses told the newspaper that the couple had been at odds and Jitra who reportedly left her house 10 days ago had developed a relationship with Samruay. They added that Uno had enough of her absence at about 3pm on Wednesday when he rushed to Samruay's house and fired two shots at the pair.
