Hong Kong government rejects calls to include sexual orientation in next census

Hong Kong’s government this week rejected calls to include a question on sexual orientation in its 2021 census, against LGBT lawmakers and activists voicing of a need for such evidence to advocate for laws and policies.

This government has recently consistently pushed back on court challenges and legislation to support Hong Kong’s LGBT Community and are now facing a legal challenge to Hong Kong’s ban on same-sex marriage.
