Members of the UN Human Rights Committee expressed concern about reports of LGBT violations received from NGOs at the fourth periodic review of the compliance of the Philippines with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) in Geneva this week.
CEDAW – the international beacon for women's rights – does not shine on lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people in Indonesia. This is a painful disappointment, says IGLHRC's Grace Poore, given LBT people's need for protection from a fundamentalist backlash.
