13 US Senators appear in "It Gets Better" video

Thirteen US Democratic senators released a video on Wednesday morning as part of the online "It Gets Better" video campaign, aimed at preventing suicide among LGBT youths.

The black-and-white five-minute video follows two separate videos by US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's last year.

New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said in the video: "Every loving couple should have the right and privilege to be married, to be able to celebrate that love, to celebrate that commitment, with all of their friends and loved ones around."

"I know it's not easy," says Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) in the video. "It's not OK for your peers, for adults, or for anyone to make you feel like you’re doing something wrong by being yourself."

The Senators featured are Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Mark Udall (D-Colo.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

it is good this is done even by only 13, it should be 130 and President Obama should be on here too.

question above, why no Republicans? because generally they are anti gay and discriminatory.

I hope in the next election, the USA President should not be from Republican. Otherwise Gay Americans will begin their nightmare. The case of constitutionality of definition of marriage limit to straight people will be settle in the next five years in the Supreme Court of USA. It is as important who is the next President. Good luck Americans.

The USA is such a country of contradictions, the gayest city in the world and a very high media profile of gay actors and singers but the vast majority of the country still lives in bullying homophobia, sad but these 13 are a real start in moving forward, for all gay kids, bless them for helping such vulnerable lonely kids, hope they all can see this campaign. Get behind it Obama!

great to hear more support for the campaign.

Sadly, the anti-gay/ex-gay movement have just infiltrated my neighbourhood.

they're launching an ex-gay christian talk right in my housing area. :-(
