Wacky Peugeot concepts

Peugeot concept cars have always been cutting edge and even eccentric at times. They are fun and hopeful projections of the motoring future. Fridae takes a look at three eye catching concept cars among Peugeot’s vast collection.

Peugeot RD Concept

[RD Concept 2009]
Peugeot claims that this RD concept offers the sensation and mobility of a three wheeled scooter but with the driving pleasures of a typical saloon with four wheels.

The main innovative operating feature of the Peugeot RD Concept car is its ingenious system of articulation that provides irreproachable road holding allied with the ability the easily thread its way through urban traffic.

Equipped with an environmentally friendly electric motor, the driving position in this single-seat concept offers a new feeling of freedom, thanks to its panoramic vision, voice-message driving assistance and a heads-up display system that gives all the information required for traveling in complete safety.

Peugeot Quark concept

Quark Concept 2004
Peugeot Quark is a concept car from Peugeot, rather like a fourwheeled motorcycle. It uses fuelcells and has an electric motor on each of the four wheels. All four motors combined give the Quark 40hp. It can drive about 130km before it needs refueling.

The Quark is 2,38m long and 1,50m wide. The empty weight is 450kg and its top speed is 110km/h. It'll get up to 50km/h in 6,5 seconds. It can carry two people with an additional load of 140kg.

Note this is not designed for true off road conditions due to its low ground clearance and short fuel range.

Peugeot 308 RC Z Concept

308 RC Z Concept 2007
A French Audi TT? You bet that the French manufacturer will be going after the iconic German coupe with this dazzlingly looking concept that is based on the humble 308 hatchback.

The RC Z concept is a 2+2 coupé, with true versatility and at the same time a style that is modern, original and well-balanced. Of the concept cars featured here, only the RC Z concept has the highest chance to be seen on roads anytime soon. In fact, a 2010 launch date was planned prior to the recession.

Stay tuned for this Friday's preview of the facelifted Peugeot 107.
