Watch: Pink Dot Singapore’s ‘Our Heroes’

Joan and Pauline share the story of their friendship, and in doing so demonstrate the importance of straight allies.

Pink Dot Singapore, the city-state’s annual LGBT event, has released the first video in its series entitled ‘Our Heroes’, which highlight the real life heroes of Singapore’s LGBT community.

Director Sun Koh’s film of Joan and Pauline shows the role of religion, friendship and acceptance when it comes to being LGBT in Singapore.
Koh’s films have won multiple awards including the Silver Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. She also received the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award in 2010.

Pink Dot Singapore has grown to be the city’s largest LGBT event and every year sees LGBT and allies come together to celebrate the ‘Freedom to Love.’ This year’s event will be help on 4 June from 3pm.
