Chang Yi-hsuan joins Taiwan Writers Festival’s bookcase programme

The ongoing exhibition and a separately booked 11 November conversation offer different ways into the writer’s reading life.

Chang Yi-hsuan joins this year’s Taiwan Writers Festival through its “Writers’ Mobile Bookcases” programme, with a conversation listed for 11 November. The bookcase exhibition continues through 22 November.

Her fiction gives queer readers a reason to look more closely. A 2023 master’s thesis in Taiwan’s National Central Library catalogue examines lesbian coming-of-age narratives across five of her works. The study covers collections and novels published between 2001 and 2019.

The exhibition and the conversations have different entry rules. The festival programme lists the bookcase displays from 20 October to 22 November, without tickets. The writer talks require separate registration, including free sessions. The organiser’s ACCUPASS page gives the usual booking cutoff as noon on the day before each event.

Check the individual session details before making plans, and each exhibition venue’s opening hours before visiting. The festival uses venues across Taipei and Tainan. A place in one activity doesn’t cover another.
